Victory Is Yours: Bethany Worhle
An opportunity is coming that will bring you closer to Him.
It’s been a long day. At first, I didn’t know where to start. I multiple times to start and write. Closed doors sound harsh. In some respects. It is. You lose something. You turn from something. In a sense, hope is lost. In the post today, I hope to show you another look. I want to begin with a story. Throughout I’ll post some scripture. You have to capture this.
The Misfortune.
In every season of a closed door, it hurts. Sometimes one is ready for it, but for most, it is a surprise. The reaction to the closed door is different.
I was watching a Disney Classic Cinderella and this played out the story I want you to grasp.
At first, everything is great. A mom and a dad have a daughter. Then doors start slamming shut. This is seen in many aspects. The mom passed. Then the father remarried to a woman who seemed to be the new Mrs. Right. She had two daughters, and a mixed family with new opportunities.
Then the father dies and the real personality of the stepmother and sister take over. The inherence and lively hood shattered.
The False Hope.
If we back up. The father of Cinderella probably would have changed arrangements if he knew what was waiting for his daughter. But that’s the funny thing about walking through new doors. You don’t know what’s waiting on the other side.
We as Christians have a helper in time of need in these decision making. Holy Spirit can guide us. While Jesus and God are our open lines of the phone a friend.
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Romans 8:26 NKJV
Living Out Your Choice.
So in a since Cinderella never chose to live the life of servanthood. Actually, she despised it. However, Cinderella made do with what she was given.
The cards of life may not have been in your favor. BUT. You get a choice. You can choose to let life define you or you can choose Jesus. Choosing Jesus allows you to work through the process. The situation you’re in may not always be your forever situation.
New Hope.
So if you’ve ever watched or read about Cinderella she is invited to a ball. Her stepfamily tears her apart. Belittling every aspect of her life. The dress. The lack of money. The lack of anything to give. They made sure to remind her of what THEY saw.
Jesus is better and He reminds us of what He sees. We get a choice to accept that or not. It’s all a choice. The air we breathe. The words we speak. The thoughts we think. We do get choices in our life whether we realize it or not.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2 NKJV
The hope we rely on is found in Jesus. He is the ultimate choice. Chose Jesus.
Open Doors.
So Cinderella has some help. She got to the ball. She feels in love. These good things happened to her. It all worked out. Then she returned to her reality at the time. Too good to be true?
We can feel like this. Have the rug slipped from our feet? In the best times of our lives. We then again get the choice to live in despair or chose to see the positive.
Of course, the slipper was lost. The king sent out for every woman to try it on. The remarkable part of this. The open door was right around the corner. Cinderella has an option to move forward into a new life or stay behind.
Sometimes you have to fight for your new opportunity. It doesn’t come easy always. Cinderella had to bust through the door literally. Because the stepmother locked her away. Then bust through her family. Until she was in the presence.
Happily Never After.
I wish I could say we all end up like Cinderella. Where we find our happiness and live happily ever after. But the reality is. We sometimes find ourselves in a cycle of choices. New doors. Old doors.
What we can take away from this is that we can choose Jesus. We can choose how we react to the situations we face. We get to have a say. We don’t have to be silenced by our atmosphere. We can live happy in the midst of chaos.
Join us next week as we go deeper in the calling of friends in time of need. For Cinderella she had the animals she cared for and showed compassion towards. Even though she had little to give.
