// Joy begin to rise and hope begin to light the dark. Our God exchanges old for new. //
Old For New: Hannah McClure & Bethel Music
Some things must break before they shine.
It’s time to change things up. Going through a lot of updates on the website and social media platform. I felt our blogs should shift it up too.
Have you ever felt like you were just too broken to matter?
I have, I thought I was just a mistake. Many people go through this. Some for a season and some for a lifetime. It’s a sad culture we live in where this is almost glorified and promoted.
My king, tells me I am redeemed!
“In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace”
Ephesians 1:7 NKJV
What if what we’ve been believing has been a lie?
It happens to the best of us. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy! John 10:10. He is after your life. But think about this. The enemy knows your worth enough to steal, kill, and destroy your shine.
Take that in for a moment, you don’t chase after something just to chase or pursue. It has to have great value and importance.
You have importance, you have value.
If the enemy keeps coming it means your worth is not completely gone. You still have value. What if the real plan is to distract you from what you could do in your brokenness?
You have a sphere of influence that only you can reach!
“For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
Esther 4:14 NKJV
We have to get this. I know it may be a new concept for you. But we are going to learn this together!
The reality is, you are more than meets the eye. A child of the one true king. At least you are once you chose to live your life for the king.
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”
I John 3:1 NKJV
The Broken Stick.
Once there was a stick. It laid on the ground. It did not look like the other sticks. It was different. It tried to do all the things stick do. Be thrown, just lay there, maybe a kid would pick it up. The stick became sad. Until one bright morning, a child saw it. They found it joyous. This stick was thrown and played with.
The stick was bent, twisted, but it never fully broke like a “regular” stick. But it did make the same noises. It wasn’t until the very end of the day just before nightfall. The kid threw the stick one last time. “Ouch,” the stick replied. ”I’m broken beyond repair. No one will ever play with me again. I’m too broken to be used or loved as before.”
As the night came, something spectacular happened. Stick began to glow. The brokenness of this particular stick was needed in order to let it shine the brightest in the dark. It just didn’t know it yet.
A kid was crying because he could not see in the dark. He found the glow stick and was able to find his parents. The glow stick never knew the potential that was hidden inside.
It realized that if it was just like everyone else, the kid may have never found his parents. Even in its brokeness the glow stick was able to be used.
The final response.
From this story as short as it may be. Compare yourself to the glow stick. Though God wants us to grow, it can cause some pain. He does not provide pain. But He, Jesus, will always help us through it. When we break, we are given the opportunity to shine. You are shinning for a purpose. You can shine in the dark and lead people to the one that sets the captives free. You get to shine bright to make the difference. It just takes one. Why not you? You are chosen.
Join us next week as we learn about other broken things that make a difference. Being broken doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It can set you apart. It has the opportunity to change a life for the better.
