// I know the tension of the now. I don’t always understand. I don’t always get to see everything. //
Praise Before My Breakthrough: Bryan & Katie Torwalt
It’s not over yet.
If you haven’t read till now, I reiterated, this isn’t your Christmas feel-good special. In Under The Weather, we learned to breathe. Take a moment for you. In Scrooging It Up, we learned to smile. Take a moment for someone else. Today? We learn to relax.
It can be a daily thing or a weekly thing. Maybe for you, it has seemed to never stop. What am I talking about? Messing up. During this season we do our best to get the right gifts, make the right parties, do good, do right, just do. In the midst of this “doing,” we got the wrong gift, we didn’t show up on time, we forgot the plans we already said yes to. We missed the mark. For some of us, we got over this pretty quickly. But for some of us, we are still fretting on it.
Let it go! Yet for some of us, this was only the tip. Because it’s not just this season. It’s actually time and time again. At school, at work, at home, out and about. We just miss it. Even after trying our best. Hoping for the best. But our best seemed to not be enough.
Our key to releasing us from this guilt is relaxing. It sounds contradictory and to be truthful it sounds silly. Think about it. When you focus on your mistakes, are you relaxed? Probably not, think about it probably makes you more anxious and prone to do it again. When you made your last mistake, you may have carried that mistake before into the back of your mind.
What does that sound like? Ever hear these statements? “What’s the point, I’ll just mess this up too!” “If I couldn’t do it then, I can’t do it now.” “If only I could be like ___ they never get it wrong.”
If we were real with ourselves, we’ve probably said these things more than once. Sometimes multiple times a day? Sound about right? Like I said before this isn’t your feel good, Christmas message. It’s a reality people are feeling this right now. People reading this can feel this. Even in this season of great joy and giving.
So what’s the cure? Easy button? Nope. This is what we like to call a hot mess. I know a man that takes those messes and turns them into messages. It’s His past time.
// I’ll praise before my breakthrough. ‘Til my song becomes my triumph. I will sing because I trust You. I will bring my heart. I will lift my song. //
This is the chorus to the song for this week. It has been my life anthem for the past month. I can be my own worst critic. Even worse I feel like I deserve the outcome of my mistakes. The good, especially the bad, and for sure the ugly. Then I turn to Jesus. He reminds us that we are not our last mistake. We are in a process. We must choose to praise Him in our process. Because BREAKTHROUGH IS COMING!!
// When I’m listening for Your voice and I’m shutting out the noise. I know that you will speak clearly. When I’m living out my faith. When I’m stepping on the sea. I know You take my hand and walk with me. //
This has to be our response. Shut out the lies. The enemy wants nothing more than to distract you from your life. He wants to control you with fear. When’s the last time you cried out to God? God should not be our last resort, He should be our first priority. Even if you haven’t been to the altar since you were saved, or never been at all. NOW is the time.
It’s not hard. There is so much more. It’s not easy. It won’t be a quick fix. You’re going to have to sacrifice somethings. But what you’ve laid down, will be returned in double favor. It might not look like what you gave to Him. It looks exactly what you need for His good working for your good. Every time!!
“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.”
Genesis 50:20 NKJV
“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.”
Psalms 37:7 NKJV
“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
Psalms 37:4 NKJV
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 NKJV
Rest in Him first. Then just relax. Make peace with your past by releasing your troubles and worries on Him. He’s not going to break. He wants to take what bothers you, so He can give you ALL He has for you.
He leans down to pick you up out of the dirt. Lifts your chin, and wipes your tears. You can do this. Join us next week as we wrap up our last series for the year 2018!!

Hello friends, I’m Marco. I’m an RN, & founder of Four Winds, a ministerial blog.
