// We’ve tasted of Your goodness We know that You are for us. We can hear the sound of Heaven cheer us on. //
Getting There: Steffany Gretzinger
He’ll never stop running after you.
December is here. Like in last week’s post. We are ending the year and sometimes that means we reflect on the good, the bad, & the ugly this year brought. For some of you, you may feel that there was more ugly than good. For others, this may have been your best year yet. Regardless, it’s your year.
Along with this season of hope, there is a season of discouragement. Not for all. But some. It’s not everyone’s favorite time of year. With that being said, this won’t be your typical Christmas feel-good post. It’s the reality of hurting people and how to cope.
So about this time, everyone’s Christmas trees are up. They are blooming with presents. For some this season actually started November 1st, and that’s ok. This season releases people to commit to caring a bit more. However, we do have some Scrooge’s among us that this season is nothing but humbug. The false characters, the false humility, the falsehood of friends and family.
So this should make you feel what? Sad? Hopeful? This should make you reflect. Are you acting like you always would? The word we are searching for is integrity. Are you willing to be one who steps out of the crowd to be real? Raw and real. It’s not easy. To be different you are marked for life. Even if you try to hide back in the shadows. People see the moment you receive light. You reflect THE LIGHT.
During this time you can feel that pressure. The world expects you to love this, take care of that, check on this, see about that. This may be the only season you’ll see certain relatives. Sometimes it just boils down to appearances. How will you look to other people?
Money becomes a god to some. Will I have enough money to pay for this or that? Will I be able to get this or that? How many hours do I have to work to pay for that? Will I have any money to pay for gifts at all? The questions are endless and can make my head spin. Imagine that is you, or maybe that really is you.
The worse thing we can do is take on something that isn’t ours. We can be given titles, best Christmas tree design, best lit house, best home decor, best cookie maker, etc. You don’t have anyone to live up to accept being your best. That may mean you lounge back and say the best I can do this year is a smile and a hug. You deserve to relax.
Don’t take it on by yourself! If you have big family gatherings, delegate what someone could do. If you have a small family, delegate where you can. If you have no family, don’t be afraid to open up to being vulnerable. Find some friends and do life together. Even if it’s one person. Someone needs you as much as you need them this season.
In the end, reflect this season. If you aren’t feeling 100% up to what you did last year and afraid of being judged. Don’t. Listen to the voice of the Lord that tells you that you are more than enough. You are perfect the way you are. You don’t have to do anything extra because the you people see is the kind, caring person who has bad days. This season you may be doing everything you can to keep it together. Give it to Him. He’s not going to break.
Ye,s you too get a break to breathe. Here’s some scripture to tie this all up.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 NKJV
“casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
I Peter 5:7 NKJV
“Cast your burden on the LORD, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Psalms 55:22 NKJV
“In the day when I cried out, You answered me, And made me bold with strength in my soul.”
Psalms 138:3 NKJV
Hopefull,y that reassures you, God has you. Join us next week as we try to reveal some truth to the Scrooge’s that make our Christmas miserable.
If you’ve found this enjoyable, please like, & share! If you’ve got a testimony of how these posts are transforming your life, we’d love to hear that too! Until next time, peace & blessings!!
