All My Fears: Bridge City Music
Obedience sows into your destiny.
From high waters to now. We were left floating without a paddle. For those just joining us, we have been covering the story of Noah. Catch up with Show Me That Boat, & Up To Here. Now let’s begin with Genesis 8.
Genesis 7: 24, left us with a hundred and fifty days after the forty days & nights rain. I know when it rained in our area a few weeks ago, we had flood warnings over certain roads for at least a week. That was only after a day or two of hard rain. Can you imagine the hardest rain you’ve ever seen & then multiply that for forty days & nights? Yeah. Me either.
Preface some of the following verses will cover what happened in that a hundred & fifty day wait post rain. In Genesis 8:1, it starts off “God remembered Noah.” It’s kind of strange statement to read. Where did Noah go? Did God need a moment to look away from the death of his children? Just some questions to think about.
Verse 2, opens up with a wind residing the residual waters. Think about it, if you get your clothes wet you go straight for a dryer or start fanning the wet area in hopes to make it dry quicker.
“The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.”
Genesis 8:2 NKJV
Now, we just left the winter season. With some heavy snow/ice days. Some were worse than others. On the days that no one got out were among the worst. You’re trapped! Not only with your family, but sometimes without physical communication to anyone else. Phones & technology have helped bridge that gap. However, it can make you go crazy.
Prehistoric electricity. No texts. No snaps. No tweets. No Netflix. No nada. Zip. Zilch. Just Noah, the wife, the boys & their wives. Oh, and the largest zoo ever. Stir crazy would probably be on my mind. A dash of cabin fever.
After the waters went down, the ark landed on Mount Ararat. For another 3 months, the waters dropped enough to see mountain tops… not land. Tops.
“So it came to pass, at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.”
Genesis 8:6 NKJV
The light of hope. After being tossed around and in darkness. Noah finally had a glimpse of his future. A small peep of light from an open window. What area of your life has God given you a small open window? Did it release faith and hope?
Did you need more than a peep? Maybe you sent something as a lifeline. Like a prayer, maybe a sit down with someone to speak into your life? Noah sent out a tweet. The world’s first. That tweet was also called a raven. (Verse 7) To no avail, Noah sent a dove. (Verse 8) With no result, we started round two with the dove. (Verse 10) Now finally some hope. She came back with an olive branch. Final tweet being sent, & bam! No return. Which in this case was a good thing. (Verse 12)
“Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.”
Genesis 8:16 NKJV
Though Noah knew the land was dry, he still waited upon the Lord. From this point, the animals were released with the mission of reproducing the land. You may know God is moving you in another direction but wait upon the Lord to set you free. Let Him release you in His timing. You’re serving a timeless God, He alone releases acceleration & restoration.
“And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.”
Genesis 8:21 NKJV
Aren’t we glad that is a promise? You may have felt like God sent you on a mission of faith. With ridicule and pain from others towards you. You may have felt you’ve been on this never ending ride of spinning. Even when you got that glimpse of hope you still have to wait. Sound familiar?
Joining us next week as we wrap up this series. The promise is coming. What seeds of faith will bear fruitfulness because you stayed in obedience? It was never about the mission. It was always about relationship.
