Fear is broken when faith is released.

Welcome back! We continue on our journey with Noah. If you missed last week’s post, here is a link to Show Me That Boat. We just left our friend Noah accepting the mission of building the ark. We’ll be covering Genesis 7 for this post today.

For the first 11 verses of this chapter, we see that Noah has 7 days to get on this ark. Noah, a 600-year-old man, rounding up the two by twos. It must have been a site to see.

The gap between the building and entering of the ark has always intrigued me. There must have been some mighty things going on. For one the world was wicked, the amount of protection over the building of this ark. To hold back literally the world from destroying it.

Then there was the mocking Noah & family had to endure. “Why are you building a giant boat Noah, we’ve never even seen this “rain” before! Crazy old lune.” Noah must have seemed to be the town crazy.

“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.”

This is such a vivid picture, it seems so unreal. Something that would only happen in the movies. From the depths of the sea to the very sky above, waters like no other pouring over the Earth. I think about the chaos in places that don’t get a lick of rain then are stranded because the waters have covered the road. Now take that stranded feeling multiply that times a thousand, & add death, now you have the great flood.

Forty days & forty nights the rain poured. Every nook & cranny filled to the brim. Washing out people, belongings, everything! Verse 22, says everything that had the breath of life. Destroyed.

“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I want to make a point here. While this seems drastic & full of wrath. We can’t lose the path of hope. God could have done away with it all & we may not be here today. However, He saw the servant that was faithful to fight the wage of relationship.

Imagine God trying to get at least one person to hear His warning. It’s not the Father’s heart to see His children suffer. The reward was not promised Noah when God asked. It was a simple ”will you obey me?” Noah’s ”yes” changed history.

“But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:48‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Lord saw Noah not only was faithful in the small things. He knew Noah could carry out the mission that awaits him after the flood. This is where we will leave off. Until next week, you won’t be left afloat.
