// You put Your love on the line to bear the weight of sin that was mine. Washing my river of wrongs into the sea of Your infinite love. //
Love On The Line: Hillsong Worship
Love calls you out because you’re worth more than your present circumstance.
Welcome back!! We continue our journey of discovering love. Today’s topic is on the beauty of tough love. A love that’s shied away from nowadays. A love that is needed to mold us into full representations of Christ. In Reckless Love we left off with a deep question, “did I do something wrong?”
While we as humans would love simple straightforward answers, we have different perspective lens & experiences that would change our answers. We go through life and often come to a season where it seems harder than we’ve ever been through. We don’t know how we make it day to day.
We start reviewing our lives, then start blaming what we can’t understand. We’ve blamed others, the circumstances themselves, ourselves, & in a last-ditch effort, we’ve even blamed God. There are several theories into why. That’s for another time.
What we’d like to cover is releasing your thoughts to having the mind of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5, tells us to take every thought captive. Hebrews 4:12, tells us the word of God knows our thoughts & intents of the heart. So why are our thoughts so important? How does this answer that question?
We can be in a state of fear that drives our thoughts into the worst situation, at the worst time. We have to surround ourselves with a positive atmosphere learning & knowing God is for us. He does not do terrible things to teach us lessons. That’s against His nature. God simply can’t give what He doesn’t have. That being sickness, despair, worry, doubt, & fear. So who does?
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10 NKJV
Here we see there is someone trying to go after your happiness & joy. The devil brings these tools like fear to shame us or make us believe we are less than who we really are. Jesus is our solution. He’s the life giver. The restorer of the lost & broken. Those tears didn’t go unnoticed, Psalm 56:8. So why do bad things happen to good people? God’s people?
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33 NKJV
It goes back to the principle of different lens & perspectives. The simplest answer is I don’t know. It’s not an easy answer to hear let alone accept. It’s ok to not know. It goes against every logic we can imagine here on Earth. But God is not limited by space or time. He knows our best & is a guide to direct us into this destiny of fullness that He wants us to walk in. He doesn’t see us as we are right now, but who we were always called to be. Holy. Righteous. Pure. Courageous. Bold. Peaceful. Diligent.
Tough love isn’t just about the punishment for doing wrong things. It’s also loving someone through a situation they’ve gotten themselves into. Even if you’ve warned them. It’s releasing truth to that situation & praying the person embraces love & freedom. Even though the process can be hard because you want to take control.
If we’ve set our minds to be like Christ, our thoughts become His thoughts. So just like the example above. You don’t see a broken person who’s messed up time & time again. You see someone that needs love. You see their potential & begin calling out the best in them. That’s what Jesus does for us. Be like Jesus.
End thoughts. Our mind is very influential. If we put in thoughts that would cause us to worry. We will. Thoughts that would cause us to fear. We. Will. So begin relentlessly pursuing Christ with everything you have. Because He’s been running after you. Learn how to love Him. Until next week!
If you’ve found this enjoyable, please like, share! If you’ve got a testimony of how these posts are transforming your life, we’d love to hear that too! Until next time, peace & blessings!!
Hello friends, I’m Marco. I’m an RN, & founder of Four Winds, a ministerial blog.
I have a heart for this generation to know who they are & whose they are. I also contend for revival to cover college campuses. As well as preach the word until every nation has heard. Sharing Jesus with all, & showing the love that was once shown me.
