// There’s a “yes” in our hearts, and it carries through eternity. Simple obedience, it changes history. //
Take Courage: Lindy Cofer (Conant) & the Circuit Riders
You’re raising a standard to bring Him glory.
Let’s jump back into Daniel 3:19. Just as our heroes of faith were confronting King Nebuchadnezzar with their “rebellion.” Things don’t always turn out pretty. Especially, when you’re doing the right thing. This was no different, enraged he order the furnace to be heated seven times hotter.
In verse 19 of the NKJV translation states, “his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, & Aben-Dego.” Just because you’re doing the right thing, doesn’t mean everyone will agree with your choice. Even the closest of friends can “change their face.”
Verse 20, shows us not only the followers of the king were to bind our friends, but the top, “men of valor.” Because our friends were still anointed by the Lord. They were strong, they were mighty. As mentioned in Finding Your Why they were on the Lord’s workout regiment. Which showed them to be placed in the fittest and finest conditions. So no ordinary warrior could simply tie these men down.
“Therefore, because the king’s command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego.”
Daniel 3:22 NKJV
In their obedience, just in their walk to the fire, the anointing began to fall. We may be going into the furnace for our beliefs, but the Lord has not abandoned us. His mercy & protection were over these men, they could have ran especially when men began to be incinerated. However, they walked out their faith in obedience. Can’t you hear their cries, “we serve God, alone. He will deliver us.” The next verse gets us, we see the working wonders of God that make the world tilt their head.
“Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.” “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
Daniel 3:24-25 NKJV
GLORY!! Reading the word gets me fired up, the triumph of God. Serving the almighty God allows for the miraculous to happen. Even when they thought to be alone, the Lord showed up & showed out. He did it for them, & He will do it for you!
“Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here. ” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire.”
Daniel 3:26 NKJV
This is an important part of this story, as in verse 22 the furnace was too hot for anyone to go near it. The workers, & soldiers died being near this fire. They were so engulfed that they had to come out in order to meet with those who tried to persecute them. The fire became a safe place.
Banning Liebscher tells a story about his new car bursting into flames. He makes a point to say the fire gave him no choice in what he got to keep. So don’t ask for the fire on your life, if you’re not willing to give up everything. These men made that choice. They had nothing because it was all the Lord’s. The fire of God does not give you a choice into which will be burned & which will be saved. It consumes ALL! That’s what fire does, it consumes ALL!
Now don’t get me wrong. The fire of God may bring an all-consuming fire. Which in turn can be scary, but in the end, the value of your loss is rewarded with greater than you can imagine. You may lose worldly desires. But you hunger to stay in the fire. You find your safe place in Him. Because you are forged and transformed into something the world needs to bring Him glory.
What a beautiful picture this displays. The furnace stage of your process wasn’t intended to harm you. The fire was meant to incinerate your fleshly ways. The fire of God purifies you to be shaped & molded into a warrior of faith. You are setting a standard.
“…because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”
Daniel 3:29 NKJV
When the standard is set, others take notice. You become a light in the darkness. You transform the very atmosphere around you. You’re a fire carrier! Though those around you may not understand, & may run away. You’re not alone. Just like in Doing Life Together, you can’t do this alone or your fire will be dimmed if not extinguished.
“Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in the province of Babylon.”
Daniel 3:30 NKJV
Finally, promotion. You didn’t go through the fire for nothing. There is a promotion waiting for you. Just stick it out. It may not be what you thought it would be or how it would look. Your promotion will outweigh the roughage of your walk in faith. You can do this. You’re not alone. If God did it once, He’ll do it again. Just for you. Because He loves you.
God never wanted His children to be persecuted. No father wants to see their children in pain. He comes to save the day every time. Even when it seems you’ve been bound & sent to your death. He will make a way.
This has been an amazing journey with you! We’ve been through a lot. The whole start of this series was perfect to begin our year with. Almost one month in, & 11 more to go. You may experience a setting apart season. We encourage you to pull these tools back out. We are writing to equip you to face your journey ahead. Not to fear it, but embrace it.
Facing The Furnace
Realizing this series hasn’t had a true title, better late than never I suppose. Next week we will begin a whole new adventure as we journey into the heart of it all. “If God is a good good father, then why…” There will be some tough questions answered. We’ll cry a little, we’ll laugh a little. Most importantly we will love through the whole process.
Once again if you’ve found this enjoyable, please like, share! If you’ve got a testimony of how these posts are transforming your life, we’d love to hear that too! Until next time, peace & blessings!!
